CyberCo – USB flash Drive ‘Training’

Like what you see? Let’s talk about how we can work together…

Summary

I’ve taken the approach of creating a set of three short scenarios, a job aid and a new policy document.

We’re dealing with a large increase in Malware due to the misuse of USB flash drives. This means for the most part we’re changing behaviours and showing why we need to change. To help people realise this I’ve created a series of short branching scenarios. The aim is quickly to highlight good and bad behaviour and show the consequences. This is the first in a series of scenarios-based activities. As such, scaffolded support is available from a CyberCo training assistant.

Despite the increase in Malware attacks, users will deal with them infrequently. With the infrequency, it is not good practice to expect users to memorise everything. To help support users I have created a job aid in the form of desktop wallpaper. This allows learners to refer to it whenever they may need it.

Finally, there is a re-written USB Flash Drive User Policy. The existing document was difficult to read and understand. User policies need to be clear, transparent and above all easy for humans to read. Explaining the actions and consequences of in-action makes the process transparent. Using plain English makes it readable and the document becomes more user-friendly.
