This project was created as part of a project proposal for a train-the-trainer course. A Vocational Training College (VTC) was facing diversity issues within its classrooms. The biggest problem appeared to be the age range, students could be anywhere from 16 years old to early 50s. This was causing staff problems understanding how to handle this level of diversity.
The first part of the project was to define the idea of diversity and frame it within their context. At the same time, we were looking to surface issues of bias and how they can affect judgment. The course’s aim was to equip staff with the skills to utilise diversity in the classroom.
The biggest challenge creating this cause was the language barrier. The participants were second or third-language English speakers. English was not commonly used day to day, so it was important the language was graded to a specific level. In this case, we chose to grade at a B2 level. However, we also wanted to open it up to participants who had a lower level of English comprehension. This will explain the speed at which I created the voice-over. Feel free to play with the accessibility tools within the Storyline interface.
Please note that there is no full write-up for this specific piece.
In the write-up, I explain my process and how I overcame the problems I encountered.
